Sorry. There is no way to add quotes from front-end at this time. Possibly in future versions

Hi !
Thanks for looking at RQuotes. AS of now you can't change quotes other than daily or ramdom(every page load). I will be continuing to improve rquotes and what you request may be comming soon.

Glad it worked out for you. The next release should solve the problems. In the future I hope to enable quote entry from front end. Thanks for your patience.

Version com_rquotes 1.5.1 has been released. If you downloaded it before 3/31/2009 it contains some backup file included with the archive. It will not affect the component but it has been corrected and you can download the version released today (3/31/2009
if you wish.
Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

The problem could be in your db tables structure. Try a complete new install on a different server (local-server ). If it works compare both sets of tables. I get a blank page by messing with the rquotes table. I will take a new look at the file install.mysql.sql and see if I can make it better.

You can try version 1.5.1 released today. It will solve a problem with a category name longer than 31 characters and hopefully your problem also.

Create a category of use an existing one. Edit all quotes in the category and at the top of the form you will see an input box titled #Daily. Assign each quote a unique number (this will be the daily order they will appear). Make sure all quotes are published and all numbers are consecutive.
Hope this helps.

Hello again,
Woody seems to have a solution. Thanks woody. Try deleting rquote tables and reinstalling everything from scratch and after both module and component are installed, add categories and quotes. Then go back and save the module params. If you don't get output try re- saving the module params
Hope this works for you.

Thank you for your remarks.
There is no specific option for multiple random quotes at this time. You could use a walk around by using daily quotes from db and give more than one quote the same Daily #. All the quotes with the same # will be displayed at the same time. Another way is copy the module and display it multiple times (not the best solution) but you could get duplicates unless you use separate categories. I haven't thought about adding it as a feature but we will see.
Thanks again

There does seem to be a error in the table creation files. I will be working on it soon. If you need a quick fix try uninstalling the component and deleting all the rquote tables (rquotes,rquotes_categories,and rquotes_meta). Then reinstall the component from scratch again. This worked for me. Please let me know if this works. Sorry for the trouble you are having. I will be doing more testing from now on before releasing a new version.
Thank you

Version 1.5 has been released. This version corrects an error in the table creation for the component which caused (daily) info from DB to fail. It also has ability to sort columns in admin view. Please report any errors or feature request in this forum. If you have problems you may need to delete all the rquote tables and reinstall the component. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will do more testing in the future
If you like it please review or vote for it in the Joomla Extension Directory.
Thank You for your interest in Rquotes

Hi
Sorry to delete your message but for some reason I was unable to reply to it. I am still learning how to use this forum. To answer your question yes I will be improving future versions of the module (CSS). You can take a look at _rquote.php in the tmpl dir of the module to format the quotes and author as you see fit. I will e-mail a copy to you.
Hope this helps,
Kevin

I've found this component useful. Thanks.
However, I'd like the quotes to always be one particular css style and the author to be another. Are you planning to add such a feature or do you have a suggestion for where I could hard code styles into the code?
Thanks.

Thank you for your comments. I was able to duplicate what you are saying and I see what you mean. As of now there are no user input forms so no danger of sql injection. I will be working on a new version of the component that will have user input and will make sure this is corrected
Thanks again-kevin

Daily quotes from the DB will be my next project for the module.

New version of rquotes module (mod_rquotes-1.5rc3 ) has been released. This version can be used with a DB or your text file. It includes two small example text files.
You can add as many text files as you like or just use the database. Hope you enjoy. Please report any problems here in the forum or e-mail me.
Ps If you like it please review it or vote at JED
