Very soon (just finishing up the details) I will have a new module combo that will display quotes every 24 hrs from a text file as well as random from the db. I hope this will help you. Probably will release it tomorrow.

Is it possible to set the frequency of changing quotes so that it changes daily? Random is okay, but I would like to have the same quote appear for 24 hours, then change to another one. Is this possible?

I have corrected the problem and it is ready for download. You can download mod_rquotes-v1.5rc2 again. Uninstall the old and install the new one. The problem should go away. Any problem let me know.
Thanks Kevin

Thank you for the feedback. I believe the error can be fixed in your template css files but I am not too familiar with the procedure . You can go to the joomla forums to get a better idea. The default template rhuk_milky way has a ieonly file. I believe you could modify this to solve the error. I hope this is of some help.

When I enable the rQuotes module, 1. it doesn't display the author and 2. my header and footer disappear. This only occurs in Ie7. It's perfectly fine in Firefox. I tried enabling legacy but it made no difference. Obviously this has made rQuotes unusable for the time being :/

What versions are you using. You need com_rquote-v1.5rc2 and mod_rquotes-v1.5rc1. Once you create a category and quote in com_rquote and you go to the module that category should appear as a choice. Is that the case??

There is a bug when i install the module of rquote in joomla 1.5 i.e in module there is a category parameter which does not select the value from database.
Error:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in D:\mowes1\www\joomla1.5\libraries\joomla\html\html\select.php on line 68
waiting for your positive reply...

Murtaza

You can use your default editor in joomla. Select the text and pick a font color from the menu. Save it and you have a different color text.

You can create an sql file and import bulk quotes if you have access to your database with phpMYadmin. As of now there is no import feature in rquotes. I will create a sample file soon for download on the website.

I should have made it clearer that upgrading from v1.1.1 to 1.5rc1 or 1.5rc2 ,you will lose your table. Upgrading from 1.5rc1 or higher you should not lose the tables.
Kevin
Thanks again for the xml information

I have installed the new component and updated my module for quotes.
The Joomfish xml file I submitted a while back is still working fine.
On deleting the component to install the new version I lost all the default versions of my entries so had to re-input these. I have a mirror backup site so at least the data was copy and paste.
The Joomfish translation however were not lost and were still as they were before upgrade.
In the Joomfish xml file the title of each quote is the same as the tile is the category and this is the same for each publishing module. So as they all have the same entry in this table the translations on re-installing the component got mixed up.
Practically it does not make any difference but it was momentarily confusing and slightly funny.
Because the RQuotes database tables

I have released a new version(1.5rc2) of com_rquotes . With this version you can view information in the front end as well as create, edit or delete your own categories. This version will not remove the tables once installed to enable future upgrades.

I am not sure what the problem is but it could be any number of things. Are the quotes showing in the back end at all ? Are you talking about a module not showing quotes. Some more information would be helpful.

Sorry for the dealy in responding, but I'm just now getting a chance to work on this.
manually creating the tables got me past that error, but now when I add a quote, nothing is showing in the quote list?
This is a new install of Joomla 1.5.8 on a shared hosting site, so maybe there is a permissions problem? or path problem? Any help you could provide would be appreciated. The module worked great when I used it on a localhost!
